You're in the army now...

Well, actually, not you, but me, and, well, I haven't technically joined anyone or anything yet, but surely you get the idea... As many of you dear friends and readers already know, I'll have to serve my compulsory army duty for the better part of this year. This quite obviously means that Gnome's Lair wont be updated that much -not at all for the first couple of months I'm afraid- and that I'll have to make sure I provide you with these links before I leave: DeathSpank, Resonance, Get Lamp, SYNSO 2: Squid Harder and Into the Mind of Sky Spiders.

That's it from me. Gotta leave now and have a nice weekend before getting dressed in green and shaving my beard. Oh dear, oh dear...

  2. Huh. You know I really don't know much about military service in other countries.

    What will you be doing with the bulk of your time?

    You will have to drop a note every once in a while telling us how everything is going Gnome.

  3. Eh, gnomes of advanced years like yourself have a jolly good time during the service. Make sure you don't spout any of your propaganda however, you might end up on a rock.

  5. All the best Gnomey. Don't get yourself killed or anything. Especially do not have any conversations about how you and your girlfriend are going to buy a farm 'when you get back home' - if you do you're a goner for sure (it's true I've seen it in the talkies).

  6. Good luck dear heart, on the plus side you're gonna get FIT, ladies will dig the uniform and you might get to play with guns...

    we all know that your mind is strong enough to foil their feeble attempts at brain washing. I'm sure that you will be an exemplary peace-keeper, ambassador of the people and all round liberator of the opresssed. You will act as a perfect counter-point to all those "Sir, YES SIR!" types.

    We'll be thinking of you all the way, and the year will fly by. I bet (strongly hope) you end up enjoying elements of it!

    I just had an image of Gnomes storming the beaches on D-Day; their beards blowing in the wind as they mow down Nazis with a big grin on their faces. Hmmm, that may make a good game!

  19. Thanks for the comments dear friends, and as I'm back for a few days, let me just say I'm deeply shocked -despite having a relatively great time- at the pointlessness of the army and the ridiculous habit of saluting everything that moves and wears a beret.

    Unfortunately no battle axes were spotted and everyone has to bloody daily shave. Oh and my legs and feet hurt.

    Oh, and it seems I'll be able to visit internet cafes from time to time meaning all mails will be answered asap.

    PS. Haven't laughed that much for ages, mind. Hopefully wont get to shoot more than once and that in the vague direction of a white sheet.
